Blending digital & traditional art media.

The Elemental Collection

Project Brief: Learn Blender to create 3D models for printing and further enhancement with traditional art media. The goal is to use 3D printing as a tool to bring your ideas to life.

With my partner, we created a jewelry collection based on the 4 core natural elements. The accessories I created were two rings for Earth and a crown headpiece for fire. The goal of the collection was to be representational yet functional.

The challenge in this project was learning and using Blender to create 3D models of my original sketches.

I then enhanced the 3D-printed models with clay and acrylic paint to more closely match the digital concept models I created in Blender.

Crown of Fire, Blender 2021

Imagine a rim of fire, moving and warping to the shape of your head. A headpiece whose existence is from a chemical reaction producing light and heat, shaped into a symbol of power.

Ring of Stone, Blender 2021

Stone, a natural rock, transformed into a ring. Carved with care and intricacy, the resistant material is confined into a small accessory of beauty by human definition.

Ring of Wood, Blender 2021

Changing the conventional usage of wood into an accessory that grows, twists, and is full in unique texture. It’s design never to be replicated, and eventually lost when it’s decaying properties return it back to earth.
